Ukraine and Belarus will establish a joint bank DNA farm animals

   Today ended a three-day visit of Ukrainian delegation to the city of Gorki, Belarus, where the regular meeting of the Ukrainian-Belarusian government's Working Group on the increase mutual presence of food, agricultural and other products on the markets of Belarus and Ukraine.
   The meeting discussed issues related to today's life of our countries - on cooperation in the field of plant breeding and seed production, as well as the state testing and protection of plant variety rights, as seed selection is a promising business direction of future agricultural sector. And Ukraine and Belarus have a pressing need in the elite Seeds own production.
   Another important area discussed was cooperation in the field of animal husbandry. Thus, the Belarusian side is interested in increasing the supply of fine-wool sheep breeds and hrubovovnyanyh of Ukraine. "It is advisable to create a common DNA bank of biological material of farm animals and to develop methods for genetic monitoring of local breeds in accordance with the recommendations of FAO», - such a proposal expressed Baschenko Michael, Vice President, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Ukraine.
